A voting mechanism that allows voters to vote from locations other than designated polling places, including abroad.
What is remote voting facility?
In India, voting rights for non-resident Indians were imposed in 2011 by amending the Representation of People Act, 1950.However, Section 20A of the RPA, 1950 requires NRI voters to be physically present to vote.

Ballot paper is transmitted to service voters via electronic means in the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot system.
Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot
It is intended for members of the armed forces, police, foreign government employees, and people in preventive detention.
This voting is permitted even for the President and Vice President.
Voting by a registered voter's delegate; first introduced in 2003. It is only available to "Classified service voters," i.e. members of the armed forces, BSF, BRO, CRPF, and so on.
